Editor's Choice: The Usain Bolt: Just a Stroll
TelevisionWeek is trawling video-sharing Web sites to find the hottest clips spreading on the Internet. Visit TVWeek.com to view the latest.
The setup: So how exactly did Usain Bolt turn in his world-record 9.69-second Olympic performance in the 100-meter dash? The Jamaican sprinter got “embarrassingly far ahead so decided to backtrack a bit,” then tossed some confetti into the air at the 30-meter mark, popped the champagne and poured it on his head at 80 meters, and finished off with a cartwheel before strolling across the finish line in record time. That’s how easy it was for him.
The source: The tongue-in-cheek video spoofing just how handily Bolt ran away with the gold and the “world’s fastest man” title was crafted by New York sketch comedy group Quiet Library, a group of five comedians.
The hits: The video landed on YouTube on Aug. 22 and had reached nearly 2.2 million views by Aug. 27.
